DEFCON 7 is a rebirth of our show-stopping multi-dimensional convention from the late 1990s. With attendance scaling from 2,400 to over 4,000 in the years of its run DEFCON became the largest comic, anime, sci-fi, gaming, and much more convention in the area. At each DEFCON we donate the proceeds of the charity auction and a portion of profits, amounting to thousands of dollars to local charities and this year we are happy to be involved with the United Way.
Previous DEFCONS proved to be very successful and it is an awesome time for the rebirth of a legend. A few of the guests that attended in the past include Walter Koenig( Chekov), George Takei (Mr Sulu) and Robert Beltran (Chakotay) from Star Trek, Jeremy Bullock (Boba Fett), Timothy Zahn and Kevin J Anderson from Star Wars, horror genre legend Forrest J Ackerman, 100s of comic book writers and artists including giants like James O'Barr, Michael Turner, Todd McFarlane, J Michael Straczynski & many, many more, as well as music artist Scott Ian of Anthrax. At DEFCON we try to cover all aspects of the entertainment industry. We are expecting to draw more than a thousand people simply to participate in our video game tournaments and free play. This is only one of a multitude of events, including shows of both anime & cinema, a dance, hundreds of card game tournaments, board & role-playing, art exhibition & contest, costume contest, live music performances, charity auction, chances to meet famous comic book writers & artists as well as media giants, and much, much more.
We are proud to welcome Tulsa’s Original Japanese Cultural Expo, Mini-Con to the Defcon Family. The 7 year running event has an impressive turnout and large amounts of media coverage. The focus on Anime, Video Games, Etiquette, Language & other aspects of Japanese culture is a major attraction to both avid and casual fans. With this addition we are expecting to set all time records for attendance.
